How We Help You

Change Things for the Better

As psychologists, we specialise in understanding the complexities of people’s difficulties, and will work with you in a supportive and kind manner to help you gain insight into your current situation. Together, we’ll identify what is making you feel stuck and help you overcome patterns like overthinking, self-criticism, perfectionism, people-pleasing, procrastination and avoidance.

We will work on skills such as self-soothing, self-compassion, thought defusion, acceptance, self-awareness, and mindfulness.

“Dr Hanne immediately provided a safe space to talk and always actively listened. She kindly and in a caring manner asked questions to understand and provided feedback, understanding and potential solutions. I felt that Dr Hanne really cares and I cannot recommend her enough to work with to bring new perspectives and positive change.
“I really enjoyed the sessions – you put me at ease and I was able to talk through a lot of things that were problems for me. I gained some good tools to use and also learnt not to be so hard on myself. I would definitely recommend you and if I ever need therapy in the future I will return.”
“Thank you very much for the sessions we had. It was incredibly helpful and I feel like it’s made a huge difference to me.”
“You have helped me through one of the most difficult and challenging periods of my life, but also allowed me to understand and accept the things that happened to me and enabled me to get into a much better frame of mind. I genuinely thank you from the bottom of my heart for listening to me, and enabling me to make a huge change for the better.”
“I feel like I have much more resilience than I had before. Much more calm, feeling much more level headed and less stressed. Whilst I now know there will be ups and downs, it doesn’t feel like I wouldn’t be able to cope with them… I feel like an enormous weight has been lifted. That itch seems to have gone; I feel truly content for the first time in my life. “
“Thank you again for all your help over the last couple of months. I’m feeling so much more able to cope now and I’m really grateful for all the different suggestions and ideas you gave me.”

FAQ

What happens if I’m considering trying therapy?

  1. You can book a free no-obligation 20 minute video call to talk through the help you’re looking for. We will then match you with the psychologist best suited to your needs and you can decide whether you’d like to begin therapy.
  2. If you want to begin therapy, we can then find a regular time to meet either online or face to face.
  3. We continue until you’re happy to stop – usually once you’ve reached your therapy goals. There’s never any obligation to continue in therapy and you’re free to leave whenever you want.

How much does it cost and do you work with insurers?

These are our current prices and list of insurers that we work with

Do you offer face to face sessions?

Yes, we offer both online and in-person appointments in Chislehurst, London Borough of Bromley (BR7).

Do you offer courses or other types of support if I can’t attend appointments?

Yes, you can find out more about our free resources, latest courses and upcoming events here!

How long will our therapy last?

This really depends on what it is you are looking to achieve. As a rule of thumb, the longer the issue has been around and the more widely it is impacting on your life, the longer we can expect to work together. Some people may only require around 10 sessions while others keep benefitting from therapy after a year or more. To find out more specifics for your unique situation, book a FREE introductory call and we can talk it through.

What time are sessions held?

We offer appointments at the following times:

  • Monday to Friday 9am – 4pm
  • Saturday and Sunday 8am – 4pm

How long does each therapy session take?

Sessions last for 50 minutes for one-to-one therapy and 60 minutes for couples or family sessions.

What happens at the first appointment?

Attending therapy might feel a bit anxiety-provoking at first, but we will always try to make you feel welcome and comfortable. Our first session usually involves hearing more about you and your life story from the very beginning, as this is crucial for us to understand how you have come to be where you are now. We will go at your pace and ensure you feel heard and respected. During this session, we will also discuss your current challenges and goals for therapy.

We aim to create a safe space where you can openly share your thoughts and feelings. By the end of the session, we will have a clearer picture of your situation and can outline a plan for how we can work together to address your needs and help you move forward.

What’s therapy with you like?

Therapy with us is warm, compassionate, and understanding. We always aim to offer a supportive environment where you feel safe to express yourself without judgment. Our approach is to meet you where you are and work collaboratively to address your specific needs.

In our sessions, you can expect to receive practical tools and strategies tailored to your situation for you to then work on outside of appointments. We will focus on building essential skills such as self-compassion, nervous system soothing, mindfulness, and self awareness, helping you to navigate life’s difficulties with greater confidence and resilience.

To get a better feel for what therapy with us is like, have a look at the testimonials provided by people we have worked with. You can also arrange a FREE introductory call with us to see if we would be a good fit for you. This will give you an opportunity to ask any questions and get a sense of who we are.

Are there any requirements for online therapy?

Make sure that you’re in a quiet place where you won’t worry about being disturbed or overheard. You will also need a good quality internet connection – a normal home Wifi broadband is usually fine. Where possible we would recommend that you use a computer or tablet rather than a smaller-screened phone, but mobiles can also be used if needed.

What are the payment terms?

  • For those funding the sessions themselves, payment is required in full on the day of each appointment by bank transfer.
  • Written reports, letters, and additional telephone calls longer than 15 minutes will incur a separate charge.
  • Full terms and conditions available upon request and upon booking.

What is your cancellation policy?

  • Appointments cancelled with more than 48 working hours’ notice can be cancelled free of charge.
  • If you cancel your appointment with less than 48 working hours’ notice you will still need to pay for the session as I am unlikely to be able to offer the space to others at such short notice.
  • Most insurers will not cover the cost of sessions cancelled at short notice. In these cases you would be required to cover the cost of the session.
